Maroon 5’s lead singer Adam Levine is facing allegations that he cheated on his wife. One woman claims to have dated him for a year, while three others allege Levine privately sent them inappropriate messages.
Levine has been married to his wife, supermodel Behati Prinsloo, since 2014. Prinsloo is pregnant with their third child.
Sumner Stroh, a 23-year-old model based in Los Angeles, shared on a TikTok video that she had a yearlong affair with Levine. The video included a series of screenshots taken from their private conversations. The model claimed they had stopped talking for months before Levine recently resurfaced with a bizarre message.
Levine asked if he could name his third child after Stroh. Levine said, “I’m having another baby and if it’s a boy, I really wanna name it Sumner.” The singer continued, “you ok with that? DEAD serious.”
Stroh said that she only came forward because she had sent some screenshots to a few friends, and one of them tried to sell them to tabloids. She blamed the affair on being younger and new to Los Angeles. She also believed the couple were separated but wanted to keep their relationship status out of the media.
“At the time, I was young and naïve. And I mean, quite frankly, I feel exploited. I wasn’t in the scene like I am now, so I was definitely easily manipulated.”
In their explicit messages, Levine says, “it’s unreal how f**cking hot you are. Like it blows my mind,” and “you are 50 times hotter in person, and so am I.”
The internet is showing various degrees of sympathy or anger for Stroh. Some recognize the power imbalance between the young model and 43-year-old singer, while others believe it is not enough to absolve her of responsibility.
A comedian named Maryka also accused Adam Levine of flirting with her through her Instagram direct messages. Maryka shared a series of Instagram stories showing screenshots between the two. During one alleged conversation, Levine told Maryka, “I’m now obsessed with you.” Taken aback, Maryka responded, “dude aren’t you like married lol.” Levine responded, “it’s a bit complicated.”
When Maryka mentioned taking some time off the internet, Levine said, “distract yourself by f**cking with me.”
Maryka then started the trending hashtag #ExposeAdamLevine, sharing how Levine spoke explicitly about her body and sent her a private “video selfie.” In his messages, Levine said, “holy f**cking f**ck. That body of yours is absurd.” He added that he “may need to see the booty” and he’d “do anything for it,” like “buy it a steak dinner and whisper sweet nothings to it.” Later he sent her a video of him saying, “I’m stupid.” It’s unclear what he was referring to.
Adam Levine reacted to the scandal by denying an affair but admitting to flirting with women.
“My wife and my family is all I care about in this world. To be this naive and stupid enough to risk the only thing that truly matters to me was the greatest mistake I could ever make. I will never make it again. I take full responsibility. We will get through it. And we will get through it together.”
A third woman, a yoga teacher named Alanna Zabel, accused Adam Levine of sending her inappropriate messages years ago. Zabel used to be Levine’s yoga teacher from 2007-2010. She alleged that Levine often told his friends that Zabel had the “best a** in town” and that it was “cute.”
He escalated this by texting her, “I want to spend the day with you naked.” Initially, Zabel thought the message was meant for the woman he was dating at the time since he sent it to her unprompted.
At the time, Zabel had a jealous ex who viewed the message, became enraged and got violent.
“My ex became violent, breaking my wrist. Massive life-changing, destructive moment and when I told Adam, he ignored it, never apologized, removed me from the upcoming tour and iced me out during one of the most devastating times of my life, all from his one flirtatious text.”
A fourth woman, Alyson Rose, also accused Adam Levine of sending flirtatious messages to her through Instagram DMs. She shared screenshots on a TikTok video showing their interactions. In one of the messages, Levine admitted that he should not be talking to her and said she had gotten him hooked, illustrating the message with a fishing emoji. When Rose talked about her love for metal music, the singer responded by “said no hot chicks ever other than you.”
Rose said that there were multiple inappropriate messages, but she was uncomfortable sharing all of them now. She agrees with Stroh that it would not have come out if Stroh had not stepped forward. Rose said many of her friends “knew and they were shocked.”
“But I’m really happy, and I have a really great life now, so you know if any other girls have experienced this with him — which I’m sure they have — I just think they should post it because I feel really bad for his wife and nobody deserves it.”
