President-Elect Joe Biden Will Publicly Receive A Covid-19 Vaccine ‘Soon’
Joe Biden, along with current vice president Mike Pence, is set to receive the Covid-19 vaccine soon as roll-outs of the first Pfizer vaccine continue across the nation. Biden plans to receive the vaccine publicly as early as next week while the White House claims Pence and his wife will be receiving their vaccine’s publicly this Friday.
The US is currently in the worst phase of the Covid-19 pandemic yet, and while the vaccine is offering a glimmer of hope for Americans, the fact is strict lockdown procedures need to be enforced in order for case numbers, hospitalizations, and deaths to decrease. Biden has recently claimed he wants to keep front-line healthcare workers and vulnerable parties as the top priority for receiving the vaccine in America, however, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious-disease expert, told Biden he should be vaccinated “sooner than later.”
Biden recently spoke with the media about the importance of having essential groups vaccinated first while also stressing the importance of notable public figures taking the vaccine publicly, or on live television, so that the average individual has confidence in its ability to fight this virus.
“I don’t want to get ahead of the line, but I want to make sure we demonstrate to the American people that it is safe to take.”
Shipments of the vaccine in the US are projected to be slightly delayed on the East Coast as a massive winter storm has covered roads in states from Virginia to Massachusetts. Hazardous travel conditions are not to be taken lightly especially when these massive vehicles are carrying such precious cargo.
This week 66 different sites throughout the US are expected to receive their initial vaccine shipment as part of an effort to roll out at least three million doses within the first week of distribution. For New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, the winter weather advisory is no match for their healthcare team, and he still fully expects the expected vaccination sites to receive their shipments on time.
“There’s nothing about the storm at this point that should disrupt the supply of the vaccine coming in.”
Over 300,000 Americans have now died due to the coronavirus, and over 21 million have been infected. Entire industries have been shut down and millions have been left unemployed with no feasible source of income to pay for rent.
A second vaccine from Moderna is expected to be approved this week as well, which is great news for a country suffering so greatly, however, the pandemic still has the opportunity to get much worse, and according to Fauci at this point it likely will. Federal enforcement of health and safety procedures needs to occur, as well as a nationwide shutdown to give the virus the opportunity to stop spreading.
Meanwhile Americans are still waiting for their government to make a decision in regards to how to financially assist those who desperately need it right now. Congress is currently inching towards a $908 billion stimulus package, however, if one things for sure, the longer the wait, the more people will continue to suffer.
