Freedom is one of the most important values and the Berlin Wall is still a symbol of oppression. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The Berlin Wall came down on November 9, 1989, bringing an end to the communist dictatorship in East Germany. On this Inside Europe special, we learn what life was like behind the wall and hear from people who witnessed its collapse. Fewer eastern Germans feel reunification has been beneficial than was the case ten years ago, a new survey has found. A majority of Germans agreed, however, that travel opportunities and freedom of speech are better now.
