Aviation Analytics firm Cirium recently released their report for 2025’s most punctual airlines and airports around the world to help those planning a trip this year make the best decision for themselves.

The 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as Conference of Parties and most commonly referred to as COP30, will be taking place in Belém, Brazil from November 10th to the 21st.
Brazil has officially issued an urgent call for all countries to come forward with strong national plans on climate to meet a key deadline in September, according to reports. So far, only 28 countries have submitted carbon-cutting proposals to the UN, with some of the biggest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions not yet submitting their plans; including China and the EU.
Brazil has issued a summons to all governments to place their submissions before a key meeting on September 25th in New York. The UN needs all national plans, which are known as nationally determined contributions (NDCs), in order to compile a “synthesis report” to show how far off track the world is on limiting global heating to 1.5 degrees celsius above preindustrial levels, the Guardian writes.
André Corrêa do Lago, the veteran Brazilian diplomat who will preside over Cop30, wrote to governments this week telling them that they need to submit their NDCs, and if they don’t, the work will be far more substantial at COP30.
“Far from representing mere climate targets for 2035, our NDCs represent the vision of our shared future,” he wrote.
“They are vehicles of cooperation, enabling us to realise this vision together. If the image shown by NDCs turns out disappointing, it is our collective responsibility to convert it into a picture that will ensure a livable planet, protect all economies, and improve living standards and life opportunities for all peoples, for all generations.”
Brazil has been highly motivated when it comes to COP30 and climate change in general. Last week, Lula da Silva, Brazil’s president, had a long call with China’s Xi Jinping regarding climate specifically.
Do Lago stated that they “are quite convinced that China will publish an ambitious NDC in time for the synthesis report. We are very confident that China is taking this exercise very seriously.”
Issues throughout other major nations have created a multitude of issues regarding COP30. US president Donald Trump has withdrawn from the Paris climate Agreement, and Vladimir Putin’s war in the Ukraine has caused a major slew of issues for fossil fuel issues.
Brazil itself has also been dealing with issues, specifically the summit in Belém, a small city at the mouth of the Amazon River. Developing nations and civil society groups have become anxious regarding the lack of hotels and other accommodations, inflation, and airport capacity and security for the summit.
Brazil is also emphasizing what will be on the agenda for COP30. NDCs are a major part of global climate action, however, they were not initially set to be the focus of COP30’s agenda.
Many nations, however, have made it a point to emphasize the importance of discussing the NDCs and the impacts that they will have to fulfilling the Paris agreement.
“Some of the issues that the public in general expect more discussion on at Cop were not included in the agenda,” Do Lago stated.
“So what we want to do is make sure we are dealing with these issues that are considered important by stakeholders. There is a huge debate about trust in these negotiations, and I firmly believe that transparency is essential.”

Last weekend, the 21st National Indigenous Music awards took place in Garramilla/Darwin, Australia. Emily Wurramara was honored with the artist of the year award, and took the time to use her platform to speak out for all Indigenous and oppressed people around the world.
She expressed her gratitude for the work she does, stating that “there’s nothing like coming back home and being here and playing for the mob and playing for the people.”
“The music is about the people. The music is freedom. Free Palestine, free Congo, and free all Indigenous peoples around the world from their oppressors. It always was, and always will be Indigenous land.”
After the award ceremony, the Garamilla-born Warindhilyagwa singer spoke with the Guardian Australia about her commitment to using her voice.
“I’ve been very vocal about it online … advocating for Palestinians and Indigenous people all across the world – it’s our fight,” she proclaimed.
Wurramara also won film clip of the year for Lordy Lordy, which was written during Australia’s voice to parliament referendum. Lordy Lodry was shot in Larrakia country, directed by Claudia Sangiorgi Dalimore, and featuring the Northern Territory’s Red Flag Dancers and members of Wurramara’s family.
“The song is a reminder that our people always have a voice, and always will.”
Also during the ceremony, Malyangapa Barkindji rapper Barkaa, who won artist of the year last year, won album of the year for her second EP, Big Tidda.
“For my tiddas – it’s for my sisters, it’s for the black matriarchy, it’s for black women. It’s a dedication to my mother, to my daughter, to my nieces, to my big sisters,” Barkaa said to the Guardian.
“The Nimas are such a special night, because it’s celebrating Black unity; celebrating all our brothers and sisters and countrymen from across this country, and just being able to come together. And you know, when one of us wins, we all win.”
Best new talent and song of the year went to the Andrew Gurruwiwi Band from Yirrkala in north-east Arnhem Land. They were awarded for their song Once Upon A Time, a reggae-inflected protest that addresses colonization, the frontier wars, and the Yolŋu fight for land rights.
The Bulman school and community in the NT won the award for community clip of the year for the second year in a row. The award is meant to recognize young talent, and the school won for their video Crocodile Style. The video had local children rapping in English and Dalabon while telling the story of Korlomomo (crocodile) and Berrerdberred (rainbow bee eater), and how humans came to have fire.
Garramilla/Darwin-born and Kuku Yalanji and Wakaman singer and actor Jessica Mauboy was inducted into the NIMA’s hall of fame during this year’s ceremony as well. The award recognized Mauboy’s impact on Australian music and her success as a recording artist.
“From humble beginnings in Darwin to the international stages, music has been my voice, my escape and my connection to the people all over the world,” Mauboy said.
“This hall of fame induction is not just about my achievements, but also about the message that I can send to young dreamers everywhere. I want every aspiring artist to know that their dreams are valid and attainable. No voice is too small, and every story is worth telling.”

Black Dandyism has the spotlight for 2025’s Met Gala, which will occur on the first Monday of May, as always. Cultural powerhouses in Hollywood will be co-chairing and leading the sharply tailored style theme into one of fashion’s biggest days.
Janelle Monáe is one of the gala’s committee members. The Grammy-nominated artist is known for embracing the dandy style as her signature fashion sense, and talked about how she’s so proud that this tradition is getting its “long-overdue moment of visibility,” according to AP.
“It’s always important to educate and reeducate to the world as much as we possibly can through art and through our greatness,” said Monáe.
Monáe has previously stated that her signature look was inspired by her family members who proudly embraces dandyism throughout her life, and is looking forward to not only honoring her personal past, but the future of the style as well.
“Dandyism is pretty much a part of my fashion DNA through tailoring and suiting,” Monáe said.
“I’ve honored my ancestors and my family who wore their uniforms, wore their suits to serve our community. It fell right in line with who I am, and the people I want to bring with me that helped build this country.”
As always, the Metropolitan Museum of Art will be unveiling a new costume exhibit that aligns with this year’s theme. The exhibit is entitled “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” and is the museum’s first show centered around Black designers exclusively, and is also the first show in two decades that highlights menswear specifically.
“It’s been a long time coming,” said Kyle Smith, the NFL’s first-ever fashion editor.
“It’s great to see the recognition that Black culture is having or has in fashion for years. It’s been there and very subtle, or just not recognized. I think this year’s theme is long overdue. I’m excited to see everybody’s outfits and how they interact with the idea of Black dandyism,” Smith said.
Co-Chairs for this years Met Gala include Pharrell Williams, Lewis Hamilton, Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, and honorary chair LeBron James. Monáe is on the hosting committee with Simone Biles, Spike Lee, Ayo Edebiri, and André 3000.
“I think honoring minorities, honoring Black and brown people in these spaces and outside every day, is important,” said Monáe.
“The ones who have dedicated their lives to this country to serve, build and give us art to sustain us for a lifetime. We should continue to honor them and push forward and stand on their shoulders.”
Black dandyism as a style dates back to the trans-Atlantic slave trade. It presented itself as a means of reclaiming elements of elegance and luxury to fuel empowerment, combat stereotypes, and maintain/honor the legacy of Black people in America.
“We are the walking versions that they imagined,” said El Lewis, an Atlanta-based stylist.
“A lot of these people died not being able to have these realities come to fruition. We have a lot of autonomy to ourselves, and I think that’s what they were probably seeking. They wanted to be able to do anything at any moment at any time. And I think that’s what they get to see us do.”
