Kelly Clarkson recently hit another major career milestone: 1,000 episodes of her daytime talk show. The superstar reflected on her career and what she’s learned for the momentous occasion.
Kelly Clarkson was introduced to the world in 2002 after winning the first ever season of the hit TV show “American Idol.” Throughout the past 23 years, Clarkson has been a powerhouse in the entertainment industry with countless hits, and her role as a coach on the singing-competition show “The Voice.”
Within the past five years, Clarkson has entered even further into the world of television with her daytime television talk show, “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” This week, Clarkson reached a major milestone as she celebrated 1,000 episodes.
On Thursday, the superstar began her thousandth episode with a joyous and reflective monologue looking back at the past five years of hosting her show, while also looking towards the future.
“Over the [past] five and a half years, we have made 999 episodes — I cannot believe it, today marks the 1,000th. It’s crazy.”
“We have met some hugely talented people, tons of big stars, and inspiring everyday heroes. We created a community that supported each other through a lot of ups and downs — lot of ups and downs personally as well,” Clarkson said.
Clarkson praised her team for all their work over the past six seasons, navigating running their show through the covid-19 pandemic, and moving the show across the country from Los Angeles to where it is today in New York City. The three-time Grammy winner then poked fun at some of the looks she sported throughout the 1,000 episodes.
“I hosted the show with an eyepatch and with my leg in a cast, and those were two different shows, because that’s who I am.” Clarkson joked.
One of the known-segments on the show features recipes and meal preparation from professional chefs, however, Clarkson continued to joke that she hasn’t learned much. “My producers learned that I wasn’t joking when I told them that I love magic like a 10-year-old and that I also can’t cook. I told them in the beginning. I still can’t cook.”
“For one thousand episodes, we have laughed together, we have cried together with beautiful stories, sang together with some people, danced together, celebrated and competed together. I’ve lost…a lot [of games]. It’s okay!”
One of the most well-known segments on the Kelly Clarkson Show is her Kellyoke covers, in which the singer does what she does best, and gives her audience a personal cover of many hit songs, both old and new.
“I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built and the community we’ve created,” Clarkson said as she praised her entire crew and house band, Y’all.
“We started with the intention of making connections and bringing people together and it feels like we’ve been doing just that,” Clarkson said.
“And even though I still can’t cook — sorry, kids! Thank you, Postmates!” she joked. “I am grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey. It has been such a cool time.”
Clarkson then ended her monologue with a pre-taped Kellyoke cover of the legendary hit song “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston, originally released in 1992.
“We taped a special one today in honor of our 1,000th show. We wanted to go big and bold, and we covered one of the greatest vocalists of all time.”
